Eyes that don't see

Currently I make my living as a free-lance graphic artist. I have an MFA in painting. I spent a few years as a museum exhibits designer/curator. I was an Art Director for a major special events company for several years. I have been involved in visual pursuits for most of my adult life. In other words, I am a visually oriented person.

Ordinarily I wouldn't bring all this up...because, who cares, right? But let me tell you this pitiful tale of my miserable search for perfection here on my blog and how it relates to the above. And how blind anger, well...blinds one to the truth and the way. An how there is symmetry in even the simplest of things.

I've been irritated with Blogspot because at Journal Space we had a widget (that's my new blog buzz word...never heard of widgets 'til recently) which allowed us to keep up with our comments on other blogs...it was called a comment bookmark (not a true widget in the classical sense...but a widget by any other name). This meant that we could just go to our bookmarks and check on follow up comments. Nifty. But, over here at Blogspot, Blogger, whatever, I have found myself having to remember what post I'd commented on, which sometimes, on a slow day at work, when I'm goofing, gets to be a long list. Try as I would, I could not find the bookmark feature on Blogspot. I even asked around...no answers provided. So, I finally did what no self-respecting, macho, computer savvy man, such as yours truly, would ever do...EVER. I went to the help page. As I have experienced in the past, the help page is as usual, daunting and intimidating for the timid, pansy of heart. But not I. I dug in. No matter how long it might take...I was going to get answers. I began the task at about 7 this morning and about 10:30 I found my answer over at tips.blogdoctor.

I am going to share this with you...at my expense. At my expense because it is so obvious that even the visually impaired...people who have gouged their eyes out...mutants who live in subterranean environs...moths...bats and even I, should be able to see it...here "it" is in two forms:

So much for elitism.

Non Equadors

...actually, I'm just too lazy to look up the spelling of non-sequiturs. I have nothing to say about Equador. Although my brother just returned from Costa Rica, which also has nothing to do with sequiturs...or Equador.

Is there a sequitur? Please, could some of the more brainy out there tell me?

Third, I'd like to thank Baby New Year for throwing out the old bum. Good riddance, bad rubbish!

I love Netflix. Through Netflix I've been watching old British spy-guy type TV programs such as, The Prisoner, Secret Agent Man and currently, The Saint. The Avengers is next on my list. No, I am not embarrassed by this guy thing habit of mine.

Although these programs are, for the most part, shot on cheesy film sets, some of the scenes are shot outside. Besides getting a sense of 1960's Europe...these shots also show some great 50's and 60's cars...such as the P1800 Volvo (in the middle) and the Hillman on the right (?), shown below.

I LOVED that model Volvo! But my favorite Sportscar of all time was one that I owned. A 1964 MGB. The one below is exactly like that one. I never dream about past paramours, but I still dream about that car. Hmmmmm, that sounds a bit pathetic, doesn't it...who cars...er, cares.

The MG had a red leather interior and I used to just sit in the damned thing just for the smell of the leather. I know, even more pathetic. But then, what do you expect from a guy who has never been to Equador.

Of Mice and Men...and blogs

As the mice would have it, my JS blog visitor count was at 24, 990. Too bad for that 25th M'er...I had a fabulous January Caribbean Cruise lined up for him/her/them. Such is life.

The sad news is…and my innards expected it for some reason…JournalSpace is kaput. All the king’s horses and all the king’s men can’t put the data together again. For me, I now have to decide whether to stay with wordpress, or blogspot…or, just keep posting to both. Both sites have pluses and irritations, but I will say, blogspot seems colder to me…not sure why. Beyond that, if I can’t find the following people, I’m going to be an unhappy guy. If any of you addicted JSers know where these people are, please let me know.

Where o where art thou….

sonofwalt, julielynne, Navywaxman, hsack, keepingintouch, noone, elbows, sweetjane, bigbadal, cartguyforever, emd, TOBP-Steve, the new voice8, fatfreddiescat, Antic, wallwriting, theredhead, MickH, Margo, intelliwench, and that Brit guy, Simon.

?

Damn, missing all these people already.

Oops, found intelliwench...she's right here.

Merry New Years everyone.
