Way, way, way wrong...

me, that is...and my memory. In my last post I erroneously attributed a song of Carole King's to Rita Coolidge. The song is titled, "Smackwater Jack", and the lyric that stuck in my mind is, "You can't talk to a man with a shotgun in his hand"...a truism if there ever was one.

I love that song...particularly given the things I had recently experienced a couple of years prior to it's release. But my fart blossomed older guy brain totally mis-remembered it

Just know, I had seen the man with a shotgun in his hand.

That's all I want to say about that, and don't ask for details at 11.

Here's the song...oh, and isn't Youtube wonderful? It can jar your very essence, if you are seeking the truth.

You CAN talk to a man with a shotgun in his hand . . . if you've got an even bigger one in yours (maybe).

My memory suck! I dunno what's going to happen when I'm 70.

What if you're intangible? Then it doesn't matter who's got what in his hand.

p.s. Carole King - how could you not recognize that voice? I will forgive you - today.

Sun---but will he listen?

becoming---maybe it's better that way.

Tuesday---transcendentally, maybe.

If I had actually been listening to the song, I would have know...but, alas, I was relying on my memory. Google was invented for poor memories, methinks.

Who needs a good memory if you have Google? :-)

I really, really want to know about the man with the shotgun in his hand.
You just keep me hangin' on.

hsack---and it's easier to maintain.

intell---I knew I should have struck that sentence. We were awake with a sick child at 2 a.m. I couldn't get back to sleep after she fell asleep, so being the modern man that I am, I turned on my laptop...read the news and came here. I re-read what I had written last night, and in the best tradition of second guessing, concluded that, part of it was borderline maudlin. It also is something I don't really like to talk about...in the spirit of letting it go, and moving on. So I got rid of it...but, left that line. It was referring to my experiences as a young 1st Lieutenant in the Army.

Thanks for the YouTube link. It isn't a song I remembered until I listened.

KIT---It was buried in her Tapestry album. I always thought it was clever, and true.

That is a great album. I don't have it, but I have heard a lot of it. "It's Too Late" is my favorite cut, but they're all great songs.

Doug---I had forgotten about this, but my wife reminded me that we have it on our ipod. Can't remember where we got it though.

jaded, I suspected maybe it was something along those lines, and so you're forgiven.

Just don't toy with me again.

Oh, and I hope the youngster is feeling better.

intell---you are my favorite suspecter.

I ain't touching that second line...my wife reads this occasionally.

Youngster is fine...daddy is sleepy.
