Etta, Chuck, Me

NOTICE-THIS IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY TONGUE-IN-CHEEK (the ones in your cabeza) BLOG.

On a lighter note...this post I mean.

Looking for Millie Jackson for my last post, and ran across another favorite of mine, Etta James. Forget about Etta's beef with Beyonce (who did a pretty good job of imitating Etta, I thought), and get with the music. I saw Etta James perform in Ft. Lauderdale at a blues festival, in 1994, as I recall. An entire weekend with my butt in motion. Couldn't help it.

After the first one, "Rock Me Baby", listen to Etta and Chuck...that is, if your arse is still in gear. Hot, hot, hot.

If these two songs don't make you want to move your rear end, I don't know what will.

YEAH! CAN'T STOP.

I bet the band name "Buck Cherry" is a spoonerism.

This stuff always gets me moving, bro.

Etta is the queen and often forgotten. Saw her once in Birmingham, about the same time as you JJ. Mid 90's. She opened for James Brown and the two of them did a couple of songs together. Talk about not being able to sit still.
The clip with Chuck and Etta was from a Chuck Berry tribute, hence the all-star band, done by PBS some years ago. In the documentary, Chuck showed off all of the Cadillacs he's owned over the years. He has every one of them in a warehouse. All completely original. Pretty cool.

wm---Yeah, and to think I almost Chucked it.

O---OK with that...corner's better than nothing.

Heidi---Gets you moving?

Mr. C---I heard a DJ once call her the commander of the Blues hit team. Not sure what that means exactly, but it kind of makes sense.

Cadillacs...yep, definitely fits.

Oh my . . . When I grow up I wanna be a blues singer! (Wouldn't mind being reincarnated as a harmonica, either, hehehe...)

jadedj said...

Intell---I just can't this one pass by:
You know of course the harmonica is sometimes referred to as a...ahem...mouth organ. You do, don't you?

intelliwench said...

Of course!

I have been in love with Etta ever since I heard "I'm Gonna Take What He's Got" as a teen.
