Calm. Me. Down. Now

Sometimes when I feel a rage for whatever happens to be pissing me off at the time. I stop and play this. The most beautiful and calming Adagio in G Minor. Also known as the happiest piece of music on earth =). Credits go to Remo Giazotto and Tomaso Albinoni. Performed by the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra

Try it.

Very calming, there are nicer things in life than being ticked off, usually about nothing.

Holte---especially true when one has inherited an Irish temper from one's mother. I've gotten control over just by simply living long enough to understand the destructiveness of it. And you are right, usually about nada.

Or, even worse, it's about something over which you have no control and can do nada about. How does the prayer go... God give me the patience to tolerate those things I can do nothing about, the strength to do something about those I can do something about, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Yes, I love the Albinoni's Adagio, and Debussy's Clair de Lune, and Faure's Pavane, and Satie's Gymnopedies, and... well, there are so many, thank goodness.

For ME, its Debussy's "Clair De Lune". Works much better than even a blunt does.

Mr C---well spoken

Mean---I'll smoke to that.

I couldn't hear any distortion on the lead guitar...

jadedj said...

Doug---I'll smoke to that too.

uh...maybe I should come over and help?
I don't know much about music other than to make some.
I know even less about composers, other than they make music...
But, even though I get excitable and sometimes panic about things that don't matter?
Well, OK, I'm no good there, either.
BUT
I CAN help with the smoking...
d=))

Beautiful and just what I needed today.

boneman---bring some munchies bro, and we'll get some serious painting done.

Peach---glad you like it.

How did you know I needed this tonight? Such eloquence in strings and keys...

I probably shouldn't be listening to this 1st thing Monday morning at my officezzzzzzzzz.....

On second thought, I wish I'd have brought my mp3 player along, so I could download the tune & take it along to my 9:30 staff meeting. Oh, well.

jadedj said...

Mango---JJ knows.

intell---can you hum in your sleep?

Ha....I'd be playing this lovely music ALL the time, because I'm constantly ticked off. I don't know why I let everything "get to me" - but I do. Now I have that music in my head...thanks loads! LOL

One of my absolute favourites and usually results in much eye-tearing-up. I always crank it up to 11.

Btw, it's no "Freak-A-Holic".

jadedj said...

mom---did I not mention that I listen to it a LOT? Speaking of head music...go take a peek at edder's place, "Freak-A-Holic, http://idontcareforyourtone.blogspot.com/

edder---yes, there's that too. YOU.HAD.TO.REMIND.ME.OF.FREAK-A-HOLIC? Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh, again.

I love that piece, one of my favourites. By which I mean I hardly ever play it, but occasionally, when the moment is right, I lie back and soak it all in.

jadedj said...

mo---it is a fine piece for laying back, for sure.

Chimp said...

It is very relaxing. My favorite to relax me and cheer me up is Lara's Theme.

jadedj said...

Chimp---yet another good one.

quite nice and relaxing, thanks

Punch---welcome. Not even going to taunt you with a smart ass remark.

Next to "Reactions," I clicked on Loud Obnoxious Noise :)

This sounds nice. For classical music, I like the impressionists (Ravel, Debussy) and Bartok better.

But classical music doesn't calm me down when I'm pissed off. For that I need something loud and obnoxious -- metal, rap, industrial -- to let off steam.

jadedj said...

Tom---Well, when I included that category I was thinking gaseous obnoxious...but then maybe that is what you meant.

Throwing wrenches, kicking dogs, and screaming at loud teenagers in my neighborhood is the result of listening to metal, rap, and the other thing for me...usually because the loud teenagers are listening to metal, rap and the other thing. Occasionally I forgo the classical music and let my wife throw cold water on me... which only works January - March.

JJ. I believe you would like Michael Hedges. A great New Age guitarist who was (he was killed in an auto accident a few years back) a master musician and well worth the listen. I'm sure there's something online you can sample.

jadedj said...

C---thanks for the tip. I'll check it out tomorrow.

Better to keep sanity in the lair and let the beast rage and rend rip and tear at the things that interrupt the smooth stream of peace within you.

Beyond that I vote for the 6 Brandenburg's by Bach or Eine Klien Nach Musik By Mozart or some of the Canons by Pachelbel although this Adagio is oft heard in my rotation which may be the reason i am so damn mellow.

But above all else has to be the music of Ode To Joy by Beethoven

jadedj said...

wm---all of which are in my stack..the Brandenburg Concertos being my favorite...but Adagio in G is quicker...or is that liquor. Can't remember.

Kyle Leach said...

Nice piece, though I think it might make me a bit sleepy after a while. I know this is going to sound strange, but harp music seems to have the best calming effect on me. I don't just feel calm, I also feel renewed.

jadedj said...

Kyle---I am a little to close to permanent harp music as it is, thus I avoid it. But I see what you're saying :)

And one more that I do not share with anyone. A nice way to completely escape the turmoil. Even in a crowded room, I can suspend.

jadedj said...

Punch---Cease fire is over. You are suspended. However, I will humor you and go YouseTubeIt.

No, seriously, thanks for the suggestion...and Sharon it.

Lou said...

Just catching up on some posts I missed JJ.

I love this piece, it's beautiful. I am woefully uninformed about classical music (I know I know about most things actually) so I appreciate you sharing.

jadedj said...

Lou, I for one don't think that of you at all ("most things actually") and I am glad you discovered something good here.

Harlequin said...

Albinoni is quite calming.... it's difficult to feel like choking the living shit out of someone when this is playing in the background. Nice choice ( it is a lovely piece... thanks)

jadedj said...

Harlequin---on the other hand, sometimes a little shit kicking is in order, just turn down the volumn.

Ah yes, JJ, one of my favorite pieces of music too.

I am not at all surprised E.
