On Tuesday a demonstrator at the town hall meeting in New Hampshire, which the President was scheduled to attend, saw fit to strap on his 'ol 9mm postola, ala Wyatt Earp...or, Billy the Kid, if you prefer.
One reporter queried the local police chief regards the gun, and was told, "it's perfectly legal in New Hampshire to carry an unconcealed firearm on one's person."
Of course my first reaction was, even so, why would you carry a gun to a town hall meeting in the first place, and more important, why would he be allowed to get anywhere within two states of the President, toting a gun. Apparently, I wasn't the only person wondering about those points.
But, before I get to that, let me show you something that struck me as I watched the Mathews interview. Is it just me? (I assure you, I am not making light of this development, because I think it is a question of time before someone gets shot.)

Chris Mathews was but one, other than myself wondering WTF...Salon.com was another. Mathews interviewed William Kostric, the toter on Tuesday evening, and Salon.com did an insightful and well researched article about Kostric. So, I'm not going to bore you with my words, when Salon does a real job of questioning these kinds of events. Go HERE for that very incisive article, and then at the end of the article, see the video of the interview with Mathews.
