Goddamned Sons-of-Bitches!

"I am not a good American...I prefer to form my own opinions" - George Carlin

So the dismantling of America starts in earnest, and American nitwits voted the bastards back in.

This directly from Crooks and Liars:

Ohio Republicans Announce They'll Cut Medicaid To Fund... You Guessed It, More Tax Cuts!

Take a look at this infuriating news from Ohio. By the way, I expect this tactic to be repeated across the country by the new Republican governors, because this is one of the ways they plan to throw a monkey wrench into healthcare reform.

In other words, party first, country second:

From the Columbus Dispatch, we learn that Republicans plan on drastically cutting Medicaid eligibility as a means to balance the budget and pay for the tax cuts they passed in 2005, and any additional tax cuts Governor-elect Kasich intends on passing.

After his speech, the Medina resident said that kind of shortfall means there is no way to avoid making significant changes to Medicaid, the $12.5 billion state-federal health insurance program for the poor and disabled.

"First, we have to apply for exceptions, a lot of them," Batchelder said, noting that in the past, the state asked the federal government for permission to expand Medicaid eligibility, but leaders now must go the other direction.

Asked if that meant reducing eligibility to 100 percent of the federal poverty level, $22,050 for a family of four, Batchelder said, "That seems to me to be inevitable."

Presently, Ohio’s pregnant women or children from families with income 200% of the federal poverty level or below qualify for Medicaid. Speaker-elect Batchelder just announced that it’s “inevitable” that they will reduce the income eligibility for those families in half.

That means more Ohio children and pregnant women without health insurance.

You know the percentage of Ohio House Republican candidates who ran on a promise to reduce Medicaid eligibility in Ohio by half was? Zero, zero percent.

Even worse for disabled workers who can work:

Oh, and if you’re an Ohioan that relies on Medicaid to help you pay for your Medicare Part B deductible, yep, you’re getting cut, too.

Let’s be perfectly clear. While the recession definitely played a role in hurting the State’s revenues, by far the 2005 tax reforms which planned on cutting the State’s income taxes by 25% did far more to create the structural deficit that is projected to be anywhere between $3 to $7 billion unless the State receives additional stimulus money. The Republicans in control at the time passed the massive tax cut package without so much as a single thing to help pay for them. They left that to Governor Strickland to largely figure out, and now Governor-elect Kasich wants to pass even more tax cuts.

As a result of these tax cuts, of which Governor-elect Kasich benefited economically more than most Ohioans, we now have a Republican-inflicted budget “crisis” that “requires” them to cut back on health insurance for the poor. And you can just tell that Speaker Batchelder is really just torn up over it.

What this bullshit means is, if you have a family of four (that's me), you cannot make over $22,050 per year and get your children on medicare in Ohio. You can be sure, other Republican led states will follow suit if this measure gets through. Can you imagine trying to make ends meet and provide health care for your children on $22,050 per year? I can't do it, and neither can the motherfucker Republicans who are pushing for this measure.

This is only the beginning.
Austerity is coming to America.
Britain is going through their largest welfare change in 60 years.
I will not only be the rethugs that will push this.
The dems will be right behind the curtain.
They both have the same paymasters.
Start down sizing and prepare to leave America [while you can] on your own free will before it is too late. America will be a whole different country say in oh 5 years.
If not sooner.

RZ---I can't disagree with any of your thoughts about this. The current state of affairs is the worse I've seen in 40 years, seriously. I thought Vietnam damned near destroyed us, but it was nothing compared to today's atmosphere, and I never would have dreamed that I would gladly take "tricky Dicky" back compared to these bastards.

If it were just me, I'd be out of here. I have three other people to consider. So, I'm stuck with the situation.

Exactly, 3 more reasons to start planning your self imposed exodus. :-)

Where are the majority of Americans? These kind of changes hurt most people. I am amazed that so many was willing to sacrifice themselves and their families so that others can get richer.

I understand why the top few percent of people like the republican/corporate policies. They profit by it. Their costs are reduced. But that is not so for the vast majority of Americans.

Are they really that stupid?

I am afraid that the answer may very well be yes.

jadedj said...

RZ---It's a bit more complicated than that.

Jerry---The problem is as I perceive it, that you and I when presented with a set of ideas, logic it out, we mull it over and come to some sort of place that makes sense. Many Americans do not. They simply don't want to THINK...it's painful for them. They aren't used to thinking. They live on platitudes...simplistic ideas...and jingoism..."I want our country back"..."Obama is a Socialist"..."The Boogie Man is going to eat our children"...so, naturally they believe those who talk to them in these terms. It's frustrating...it's madding...it's tragic...but, it's the way of this country. When you, or I insult their heroes, such as Palin, Limpbaugh, Beck...we insult them, because they consider them as fellow travelers. Mass insanity, for sure.

Are they really that stupid? Yes. No. Both.

I guess the War On Education is working.

Heaven forbid that we should have a thinking electorate.

Hopefully, hopefully saner heads will prevail. But are there any saner heads around these days? This is really unbelievable. Hve there been any editorials calling "fowl"?

Sounds like Kasich wants to score brownie points for adding to Bush's "haves, and have mores".

The only thing that will save us or our country is democratic socialism.

China is well on its way to proving that capitalism does not require democracy. Maybe it is time for the US to prove that socialism is compatible with democracy.

I make less than 10,000 a year, and don't qualify for any type of medical help. I guess working women over 50 aren't supposed to need medical stuff. That's what I've been told anyway. I don't qualify for medical assistance because I work. stupid govt.

Your "Flush a Rush" on your sidebar reminds me of when I figured out my father-in-law had a sense of humor. Down in his workshop he had a toilet seat hanging on the wall and when you lifted the lid, there was a picture of Nixon. Sadly Nixon is looking better and better everyday!!
And what I'm hearing coming out of the Cat Food Commission doesn't sound any better than this from Ohio.

Tom Harper said...

Haven't you liberals learned anything from Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush??? We can stimulate the economy by reducing taxes for millionaires and eliminating those cumbersome regulations that stifle the business climate.

As President Hoover keeps saying, prosperity is just around the corner.

Jerry Critter said...

Yes, we have learned that reducing taxes for millionaires and eliminating those cumbersome regulations that stifle the business climate do not work.

jadedj said...

Jerry---No problem...we don't

tnlib---If editorials exist, I've not seen them. The corpse is still warm and the vultures are feasting.

Doug---Exactly.

intell---I am sick of even hearing the TP word, which incidentally also stands for...toilet paper.

RZ---I'm on board with that. But, alas...ain't gonna happen.

Jerry---Great observation!

diane---That is just plain criminal. Are you sure you are not eligible for medicaid in your state?

RZ---I second that.

Kulkuri---Don't get me started on that shame of a commission. Pure, unadulterated show. Every fucker on that commission is a millionaire many times over and certainly has no business deciding anything regards entitlement programs. We also will hear nary a word about reducing the Pentagon budget, which is the biggest contributor to the deficit. GETTING PISSED JUST WRITING THIS.

Tom---Even Hoover is looking good these days.

Jerry---Indeed it does not work. Trickle down my ass. What the fucks want is to expand on the Pissing Down Theory.

We need to cut sacial services and the rebuilding of our infrastructure in order to fund our beautiful wars.

We need to fund the poor banks and Wall Street Casinos that are going belly-up because of their fraud.

We need to give more money to our wealthiest Americans so they can join the best country clubs, hire illegal immigrants to trim their lawns and care for their children.

We need to buy more airport scanners so ex Catholic priests can have jobs at the TSA so they may continue with their pedophilia.

We need to open more military bases in every country in the world so we can keep on eye on "our" natural resourcec for our corporations.

We need the money to protect BP, Enron, Bernie Madoff, George Bush, FOX News, Goldman-Sachs, the Dollar....

We need to pay lots of lawyers to protect all the illegal government secrets including torture and contract assassinations.

Our government, our congress, our major corporations, our main streeam media, our wealthy royalty are more important than you slimy smelly taxpaying American sheep.
