A Personal Acknowlegement

I've been thinking about this all day. Nothing else needs to be said. A quiet thing inside, from a long time ago.

Of course nothing has changed...young men die for old men. And the beat goes on.

Obviously, I don't know the significance of this post, but just want to offer my condolences, regardless.

Sorry for your loss. I imagine there are millions of families in America making the same salutations today, with little attention paid by the holiday loving masses.

So sorry, my friend.

Yes, it has always been thus. We don't learn. Or don't want to, more like it.

I don't know if your thoughts are related to WAR, but your statement makes much sense:

Wars are where old men talk and young men die.

Wars are always fought for old men by young boys.

To all, thank you for your sentiments. I suppose I should have explained this post. It's really something that is quietly tucked in my own experience.

Briefly, Ken and I were in the service together a long time ago. Ken was 22 years old and wanted to be a lawyer. He did not come home from Vietnam, as was/is the case with far too many others of his age..and younger...then and now.

I am stating the obvious because it needs to be remembered and not just as a day we don't have to go to work. None of it has anything to do with patriotism, bravado, or fighting for freedom. It is what it is.

I am speaking for and to myself, I suppose. Anyway, thanks all.

I'm quite sure he's swilling mead with the goddess, and sneaking on her chariot to ride with the blue cats..I know these things.
