Man bites dog...er, wait...

"I am not a good American...I prefer to form my own opinions" - George Carlin

"When a dog bites a man, that is not news, because it happens so often. But if a man bites a dog, that is news."

From an AP News article:

SACRAMENTO, California (AP) — A snake bite left the victim seriously hurt, but the injured party isn't whom you'd expect.

Police say a python underwent emergency surgery after a man allegedly bit the creature twice.
Officers were called to Del Paso Heights around 6:30 p.m. Thursday after a passer-by reported that a man was lying on the ground and may have been assaulted, according to Sgt. Andrew Pettit. When they arrived, they found David Senk, 54, still lying there — but police say he wasn't the one who was assaulted.

Another man approached officers and accused Senk of taking two bites out of his 3-foot (one-meter) pet python, Pettit said.

My luck would be this.

Senk was arrested on suspicion of unlawfully maiming or mutilating a reptile and booked on $10,000 bail.

In a jailhouse interview with KXTL-TV on Friday, Senk said he had no memory of the incident and that he has a drinking problem
.
"I did what?" Senk said. "If you find the owner, tell him I'm real sorry. ... I'm willing to help pay for medical expenses."

The snake was turned over to the city's Animal Care Services, where it was recovering Friday after losing several ribs. The female python, about a couple years old, had extensive bite injuries, said Gina Knepp, acting animal care services manager. "You could see the poor snake's liver, all the way down the side," Knepp said.

The snake's owner has not yet come forward to claim the pet or file a report with animal care officials, Knepp said.

Here's the thing...I will admit I am no virgin to  over consumption of mind altering substances which make one, well...act like an ass...not to mention...throw out all semblance of common fucking sense. But, I will say...not once, under the influence of the devil juice, or smoke have I ever thought it was a good idea to bite a snake. Especially one that far out weighs moi. Just sayin'.

A drinking problem indeed.

This doesn't make sense. If the guy was there, why hasn't he claimed his snake or made a report???

Only in freaking California. In Floriday they guy would have gotten an award for killing an invasive and dangerous species.

I am with Mr. C on this one..the pythons have become like Asian carp and should be killed on sight. They are fucking jungle animals and they belong in jungles that have predators to control their populations.

And no snake does not taste like chicken, not even raw, more like Iguana.

Punch---Why do you hate Amurica?

Kulkuri---He didn't want to pay the vet bill?

Mr. C---Is there a name for that award?

Ol'Buzzard---HA! Yeah verily brother, I hear you.

walking man---I ate a piece of rattlesnake once down in Texas...it tasted like frog.

I'm totally lost, is this a metaphor or an analogy. Who is the snake suppose to represent?

jadedj said...

Yellow---Damn good question, and I'm glad you asked. Just give me a few more hours, then after a couple of glasses of merlot, I will have a profound answer for you.

I hope David Senk isn't venomous.

Punch---Dislike? Not fond of? Irritated by?

IT WAS A JOKE AHOLEO!

Punch---So...why do you dislike Eve?

Punch said...

well actually it is her husband that worries me the most, that and her boy friends. She is to write bad checks for.

Punch said...

Again I love America, that does not mean I would not offer ways to correct the present course she is upon.

jadedj said...

Punch---Have I stumbled on the wrong post here? What the fuck are you talking about?

Punch---Jesus. Again, it was a fucking JOKE! It is what the right wing nuts respond with on many occasions when a dissenting opinion is made by those of us who think. Have you been eating peckerwood pills?

Punch said...

again i KNOW it was a joke, give it a rest. I was joking. You need to watch a bit of Bob and Ray on you tube.

I reallywonder if this story was real. The reason being, that I can't see any group operating on 3-foot snake.

I would just cut it up in little pieces and flush the snake down the toilet. Or better yet, put it on my barbie with some barbecue sauce. I heard they taste pretty good.

we eat rattle snake in texas..what's the big deal.

Skinny---Hey poke all you like and thanks for the comment and follow :)

Chimp---Bad idea. We tried some BBQ sauce on one of our daughter's Barbies...it tasted like snake. The cats liked it, though.

YD G---Yea, I ate some down there in Ft. Worth once. Tasted like frog legs.

Senk was arrested on suspicion of unlawfully maiming or mutilating a reptile and booked on $10,000 bail. This shit makes national news yet the assholes in my part of Redneckistan that attempted to amputate the leg of THEIR OWN DOG and horribly botched it, then tied him in the yard and left him to die..gets no coverage.

Yes, its sick and horrible...however people cutting off the hind leg of their own "supposedly beloved pet" then saying 'fuck it' and leaving him to bleed to death and become maggot-infested is beyond words in my book.

jadedj said...

Dusty---I have to say, you are correct, I would not know about the dog if you hadn't brought it up. It is an outrage and I don't think anyone who comments on this blog would disagree.

The snake story was simply a story of the bizarre. You don't expect someone to bite a snake, nor does one expect a human being to do a home amputation on a pet that has been run over. Despicable, for sure.

It should be noted that both incidents occurred in California, but obviously with different opinions as to the severity of punishment for cruelty to animals.

That being said, let me reiterate...I, for one, am equally as outraged. The owners of that dog should do jail time. And as I said on your blog, they would in Nebraska.

Thank you m'dear for stopping by and reading abut such a horrific event that we, as a nation, need to be aware of. It goes to the heart of the issue re: pet ownership and why we must be harder on people who take on the responsibility and screw it up royally.

I get why the snake story has gone viral and it's nasty and disgusting nonetheless. It's just part of the whole issue of animals and how we as a nation value them. Many states consider animal abuse a misdemeanor on most levels. We, for whatever reason, do not value animal life on the same level as human life.

Scientists have said for decades that serial murders and the like start out mutilating and torturing animals..its a huge red flag that is largely ignored.

I did not mean to bitch at you, m'dear host, if it came off that wat. ;-)

Dusty---No offense taken, and I hope you realize that I was trying to un-muddy my intent for this post. Remember, I am a visual bird and my verbal skills are sometimes not as clear as I think they are when I am using them. But, butbutbutbutbut but, if you need to bitch, when here...then have at it. I'm used to it :-)

dang what a spill of comments here...laffing my butt off...

while I'm all about keeping the planet 'green' and somewhat agree with animal rights, and giving Repubs a bad name..sometimes I think the human race freedoms are becoming less and less...

and heck fire, growing up with a Repub grandpa and Demo father, I never knew what the hell the truth was...so I'm relying on you & Mr. C...lol

and just to put my 2cents in...anybody that would bite on a snake is a frickin' lunatic that's all I gotta say 'bout that...i like that line...'that's all I gotta say about that..." maybe I'll change my blog's title...
