If you ask me, that mom is a pussy. For reasons I've never understood, Velvet used to get attacked by geese where ever we went when he was between 2 and 4 years old. They, too, are vicious birds but I'm bigger and smarter, for Chrissakes.

Too funny, especially since we have about 30-40 resident turkeys out here in the country. But, I've never been outside near them, just watch 'em from inside my house cuz I guess they can get a little defensive.

Happy turkey day!

Intellikid said there was a flock of wild turkeys in her neighborhood in Boston, but that they suddenly disappeared. I guess we know where they ended up...

PE---I agree, geese are mean and they WILL bite you. Maybe we should be eating geese on Thanksgiving.

Karen---DO. NOT. GO. OUTSIDE. Did you ever see the film, The Birds? They were led by turkeys...very much like the U.S. Congress.

intell---At Kennebunkport? No wait, wrong state. Crawford, Texas?

Sorry, wiseassness does not dissipate simply because it is a holiday.

We had a wild turkey and her...what...biddies(?) appear in our yard a few months ago. We went out and she honked/barked/gobbled at us and went on up the street. A cat across the street from us was stalking her. It got too close, and she attacked it. The cat skedaddled for parts unknown, sans turkey dinner.

I have never had to fight off a turkey, but I have had to drink a bit of baking soda in water to take the edge off a turkey dinner.

Happy Thanksgiving, J!

I wonder if the cars were honking at the woman or at the turkeys attacking her? That was awful (but funny).

Funny stuff. You're the one in the red t-shirt right?

Now we have another reason for open carry laws..."hell officer I was defending myself, say what are you doing for dinner in four hours?"

I had no idea turkeys were so aggressive! My only exposure to the beast is at the dinner table.

All they were doing is catching their Thanksgiving dinner. Hope you have a nice holiday. I stuff my turkey with plantains. Yummy.

Holte-----Vultures, teabagger vultures. Hope you're having a good one!

Harlequin---Glad you got a chuckle.

Lou---It was awful indeed. As I watched it, I thought, lady the turkeys KNOW you are afraid of them. when they smell fear they attack.

mo.---I am the one in the back of the emergency vehicle...hiding.

wm---If you're packing, you're eatin.

Chimp---I think they're just mad as hell and aren't going to take it any more. Beware, the day of the turkey is upon us.

Plantains...sounds good, but a rare thing here in the land of runzas.

And you too have a good one, my friend.

Happy bird day to all!

willis---sorry, almost skipped over your comment. Perhaps you should heed my warning to Chimp regards the day of the turkey. Happy eating though :)

I hope it was a special day for you & yours...
I have always found turkeys to be scary btw.

You'd think that an animal wiht such a long neck would stick it out!

We occasionally get turkeys in our backyards, but they are not aggressive, yet. But the deer kicking the ground at me is too much and one day I might have to ignore the "not shooting within the city limits" ordinance

Stephen---It was yummy tum time and thank you.
Turkeys always looked a bit like buzzards to me.

sage---Yeah we get one now and again also. No deer, but last summer supposedly there was a mountain lion roaming around a couple of miles from my house. Not to fond of that.
