NOTICE-THIS IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY TONGUE-IN-CHEEK BLOG.
Nothing to do with anything...except maybe romance, and incredible vocal skills, and a case against bigotry, from another time. Wow.
And then my all time favorite tear-jerking, cry in your brandy, bawl fest song...sung in this case by Billie Holiday.
Finally, this one by Etta James, which I have on my cell phone as my wife's ring tone.

Notice the back up band for the Ink Spots in the background are all "white". I am willing to bet the whole audience was white.
RZ---Absolutely. No question about it. And my God they were talented. No getting around that fact.
JJ, you are a romantic aren't you?! Can I say without sounding weird, Blacks are so damn talented!! Maybe that's why (some) righties can be racist bigots, they're just plain jealous cuz their only talent is lying!
Today, Monday July 5th, I got up like I do most mondays, put on my monkey suit and in the rain walked across the street to my gym. "Door won't open. Why?" Someone else was also trying to break-in to the business next door. That door wouldn't open either. "Why? What did I do wrong?" "Oh, it's a holiday! Back to bed."
Oh, by the way. All the above are great rainy-day, monday-holiday, gym-closed, remove-monkey-suit, back-to-bed music!!!
Sue---Nah. Well, maybe.
There's no question that racism re-enforces one's own inflated sense of worth...and usually by someone who isn't worth spit.
Chimp---Could have been worse...could have been a real Monday.
Glad you like the music.
Love them all but Sweet Etta James is my favorite. Did you happen to catch her in Treme?
Mr. C---No, caught her in Ft. Lauderdale...1994, or so.
Whew! Almost missed these. Love 'em all but my favorite is At Last. Great one for all that snuggly kind of slow dancing.
tnlib---Indeed it is. Glad you caught them.
some of the greatest songs ever.
YDG---Rap they ain't.
Nice to hear Etta James again.
I can't quite say I like the Ink Spots, but that whole 1950s Doo Wop sound wouldn't have happened without them.
Tom---Can't go wrong with Etta.
For me, with the Ink Spots it's the harmony and the incredible range of the lead singer. These guys were the epitome of smooooooooth.
